The groundbreaking ceremony for the Chartwell Trait-Carr\u00e9 seniors\u2019 residence in Charlesbourg took place with officials and project partners. It was the opportunity to inaugurate the showroom, featuring a fully equipped model apartment, which future residents can visit to imagine their home. This concept was developed for the first time by the project\u2019s partners.

\u2009\u201cOver the past two years, we have developed the concept of the residence with the help of around 100 citizens and Quebec City. This collaborative process has helped us develop a project that truly meets the needs of future residents. The warm welcome we received from the community today, during the official groundbreaking ceremony and showroom inauguration, demonstrates the importance of doing things differently and working closely with the community to make a difference in people\u2019s lives,\u201d said Francis Charron, president of Batimo and vice-president of EMD Construction.<\/strong><\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This project, which includes 359 apartments, represents an investment of approximately $90\u00a0million, and is expected to bring significant local economic benefits to the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

EMD-Batimo and Chartwell have developed an inclusive project. With the help of over a hundred residents of Quebec City, they created a concept that reflects the needs of local retirees.<\/span><\/p>\n

An inspiring model<\/b><\/p>\n

The showroom gives future residents and their families an insight into what their new home will look like. \u201cThe spirit of this residence is based on sharing enjoyable moments and fully embracing retirement in a welcoming and safe neighbourhood without having to worry about anything. This dynamic and inspiring living environment is located in Charlesbourg, an area that is both modern and rich in local heritage,\u201d said Sonia Vachon, regional marketing director at Chartwell.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inspired by the history of Charlesbourg and its rectilinear urban design, Chartwell Trait-Carr\u00e9 will offer modern apartments ranging from studios to three-bedroom units to meet the residents\u2019 needs. For example, they will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities that promote an active lifestyle, such as an indoor pool, an indoor shuffleboard, a movie theatre, and a beautiful terrace overlooking the city. There will also be many on-site services, including a hair salon and a convenience store. Chartwell Trait-Carr\u00e9 will also offer a 37-studio care centre for semi-independent residents who require special care and daily assistance.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the concrete foundations laid at the end of summer, the building has really started to take shape. Concrete work on the residence will continue through the winter and spring of 2020, after which the construction of the building envelope will begin. Interior finishing and landscaping will start in spring\u00a02020 and continue throughout the summer and fall of that year. The opening is scheduled for January 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n
