A Meeting That Changes Everything
From humble beginnings to recognized excellence
Marc Dubuc has always been immersed in construction. At 14, he helped his father renovate homes in Verdun and St-Henri. After working as a plumber for 10 years, he became a general contractor in 1994, founding EMD Construction.
In 1998, Marc met Francis Charron, an engineer who managed construction projects for the retail giant Costco in Eastern Canada. The two construction enthusiasts connected instantly, and a business partnership began.
EMD focused on project construction, while Batimo managed site searches, operations, and promotion. This business model allowed them to work with investors to expand their opportunities and explore new horizons.
Thus, EMD-Batimo was born, a company that would become one of the leading names of real estate development in Quebec. Over the years, EMD-Batimo has experienced remarkable expansion, building about fifty daycares, restaurants, schools, and hotels, including the prestigious William Gray Hotel in Old Montreal.
This growth has resulted in some impressive achievements:
- More than 60 residential projects completed
- A total market value of $3.2 billion
- Diversified expertise in real estate development
Like a book written page by page, as Francis Charron points out, each project undertaken by EMD-Batimo has become a unique chapter in its history, contributing to a veritable encyclopedia of real estate development spanning three decades.
The early years were marked by a clear vision: to create quality living spaces while innovating in the Quebec real estate sector. From simple renovation projects, the company gradually expanded its scope, taking on increasingly ambitious challenges that forged its expertise and reputation.
