An inspiring living environment for the next chapter of your life
Beauport, September 29, 2021 — Le Florilège is a new residence for seniors in Beauport that is modern, friendly, and safe. It will open in fall 2022. While the official groundbreaking ceremony was held today, construction on the project began last spring.
Real estate developer and promoter EMD-Batimo is leading this major project in partnership with Chartwell, which will operate the facility as part of their partnership established in 2014. This complex is much needed in a region where over one fifth of the population (21.6%) is 65 or older.
Le Florilège will be located at the intersection of Blanche-Lamontagne and Jean-Le-Sueur, near the Félix-Leclerc highway and behind the Beauport Golf Club. The six-storey complex will include 301 rental apartments for independent residents, and 36 care units for individuals with physical or cognitive impairments. From studios to 3-bedroom apartments, units will range in size from 515 to 1,285 square feet. The tax credit for home-support services is available to residents aged 70 and over.
The estimated investment value of this project is close to $100 million. Up to 150 workers will be active on the site during the 18-month construction phase. Once open, Le Florilège is expected to create 55 new jobs and generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual revenue for the city of Beauport.
“Le Florilège will contribute to Beauport’s vitality, while meeting the needs of Quebec City’s ageing population,’ said Mr. Stevens Mélançon, president of the Beauport borough. “The residential complex has been carefully designed by experienced teams to provide seniors with a welcoming and safe living environment. This new asset will contribute to Quebec’s great quality of life.”
A wide range of amenities
The various amenities include exclusive retailers (a pharmacy, hair salon and bistro), a swimming pool, a golf simulator, three lounges, a billiards room, a gym, a movie theatre and a courtyard with a garden and a games area. There will also be indoor and outdoor parking, and a terrace adjacent to the comfortable dining room overlooking a park and pond.
The rent includes five appliances, electricity, hot water, cable television, telephone, air conditioning, and high-speed internet. It also includes 24/7 security services, on-site nurses, an emergency call system and access to a generous programme of complimentary physical and cultural activities.
The ventilation and air exchange system in the apartments will ensure good air quality and a healthy environment. In addition, the building is positioned to maximize natural sunlight. The nearby shops are within walking distance, encouraging residents to stay active by choosing to walk rather than drive.
Friendly and family atmosphere
“Our goal is to build a community to overcome social isolation,” says Francis Charron, president of Batimo and vice-president of EMD Construction. “We designed Le Florilège with this in mind. For example, all the shared spaces are located together on the ground floor. They are also spacious, modular, and multifunctional, but can be divided as needed to create more intimate spaces for smaller groups.”
An information session will take place on 13 October at the Ambassadeur Québec hotel. Registration for this event is now open on the website. Please note that the rental office at 3350 Lucien-Godbout Street is set to open in October 2021.
